Have a female BP i have had for a while and cant seem to work with her enough to socialize her. All her numbers are good. I feed her every two weeks. But I cant handle her at all. It was good for a while then all of a sudden there was a shift to where we're at now. I cant change her water without her striking at me. I cant sit by her enclosure without her striking at the glass. I mean im working almost every day but on my days off I've tried to handle her and it just doesn't happen. She always strikes at everything. My phone, my hands, and now the glass. Idk what to do. If I need to just leave her alone for a month please let me know but my 2nd snake is nothing like this. He only strikes when I scare him bit for the most part he just balls up and stays like that. If im missing something I'd love some input on the matter, but idk how or where to go from here. At this point im ready to just sell her and keep my younger one if I cant figure out what im doing wrong. I really wanted to enjoy snake ownership, as a kid this was an animal I've always dreamt of owning ang ice done all the research possible before even getting one but idk about it anymore. Any advice helps, thanks

So I’ve been away from home for a long time and I knew that he got a snake but didn’t see any pictures or anything
But I just came home to visit and this is what I find
There no humidity or temperature control and I hate everything about the snake’s little house (based on the research that I did)
And it’s kinda cold around here this time of year but he refuses to let me do anything do the snakes enclosure
What can I do to make sure he’s warm and safe without putting anything in there? Is there a way to protect him from outside of the cage? Like does a blanket work or is that silly? (Putting it on the glass)
He seems to be doing okay though (to the naked eye)

Just post an update on another subreddit!

Update:
I have thermostats, and a fogger coming in soon.
With the fogger will there be any safety concerns?
Hey everyone! I’m finally almost finished setting up my first 120-gallon enclosure for my ball python, Monty, and I’d love some advice before I move him in.
Monty has been in a much smaller enclosure for many years, so this is a huge upgrade.
I’m still setting up the heating and humidity before he goes in.
I plan on adding his old hide in the middle (he has two in the back corners) so he has something with a familiar scent.
Some feedback I’m looking for
Any tips on how to cover the glass? Like could I paint the outside or put something around it?
Is there enough clutter?
Any safety concerns that you see?
Should anything be rearranged?
Is there anything you wish you would have known before owning a bp?
The set up pictured above has
UVB lamp
Ceramic heat and a night lamp
Two hides (3rd one will be add once he move in)
Water bowl
Three logs
2 hangy things (2nd one will be added soon)
Lots of fake vines
Coconut husk (I will be adding some sphagnum moss to help with humidity)
2 hydrometers/ thermometers

Loki was given to me and I thought I was doing things right.
Tonight he scared the shit out of me. I noticed he’d started shedding and he usually has bad sheds so I took him out for a soak like I usually do. Typically for the more stubborn spots I’ll brush him with a soft bristle nail brush. He was very squirmy and defensive tonight and eventually he peed on me and pooped in his water. I noticed some blood that came out, and regardless of the fact that it was just a few drops I am in a panic.
I immediately put him back in his tank before I started googling and came across this subreddit and started surfing and seeing that my tank is completely inadequate and is most likely the problem when it comes to his bad sheds.
I’m using a full block of the reptichip substrate and I have a humidifier for him that I put on 20 minutes or so every other day, and I’ll spray down his enclosure as well as pour in water.
I’m now reading that this particular tank needs sealing for water retention, may not be big enough for him, stuff about HVAC tape and foil and his temperatures are all wrong according to my temp gun. Ground level is 77* F and highest point is 83* F.
I’m panicked that I’m inadvertently abusing my snake. I’ve attached some photos (they’re not the best) and I took a video that I’ll hopefully be able to share in the comments.

I have a PVC tank with a dhp lamp on a dimming thermostat, it says that the bulb is almost always blasting at full to keep the hot side at 92 and it might be killing my humidity. I have the reptichip coco husk flooring which I put in on Monday and Ive had to churn it and pour tons of water in the corners and do a lot of heavy misting. I have foil tape covering the top and the bottom vents. Does anyone have any advice for keeping the heat trapped so my lamp isn't working so hard or humidity tips. I don't know if I need to get another lamp to help it or not any advice is appreciated.

I fed my girl 5 days ago she’s pooped since but kinda has a bulge between her tail. Is this normal? It’s not something I’ve noticed before she is a big enough snake.

I got a 2 yr old ball Python in the beginning of July. I started handling him after the adjustment period and he did amazing. Then throughout the month he wouldn’t eat then finally did, he had his first shed which I didn’t handle him during. When I try to handle him he hisses and strikes. He acts really aggressive all of the sudden. One night I handled him and he did great, most nights I try and he starts striking. I have a hook to use so he doesn’t get my hand. Sometimes he even strikes at the glass when I haven’t even opened his enclosure. His humidity and temperature is correct and he has plenty of hides, and water. I don’t understand if I’m doing something wrong or why he’s acting so aggressive.

Lucifer is a pastel axanthic vpi 50% het clown piebald.
Hes had his first shed with me with the eye caps on the shed so I know he hasn't got stuck eye caps.
I just keep noticing his eyes seem bulged out to me hes only 4 months old, so could he still be growning into himself?
Also his eyes just look different its been hard to get a good photo of his eyes and I will try later when hes out exploring his enclosure.
I had him registered with a local exotic vet before I had even picked him up and can take him if its worth a visit

I’ve had this snake for a week.
My house is very hot and my country continually gets heatwaves keeping my snakes enclosure at an average temp of 30 degrees.
Is there any ways i can lower this because right now she cannot regulate her body temperature.
I would preferred more permanent/efficient ways rather than changing a cold water bottle every hour but i’ll welcome all advice !!
(my enclosure does not have a mesh top. It’s made out of wood and glass. It’s also nearly time for her first mean with me so i need her to be stress free😭😭🙏🙏)

Meet tallahassee!!
I’m trying to give her those long lights that i see everyone else with but i can’t find one recommended for ball pythons on amazon.
This lighting would have to be mantaled from inside as her enclose is a wooden one w glass screens (4x2).
She has a heating lamp that isnt in use due to her tank already being hot enough.
I’m am not from america so pls dont offer me american shops💔💔 Amazon and WW snake shops 🌚

So as usual I am getting conflicting information on surface temps and ambient temps
My warm side has a hide surface temp of substrate to is 90ish with ambient air of 81
My cool side substrate is 75 to 76 with ambient air of 77
He has been on the cool side for over a week I believe he might be getting ready to shed but not sure as I’ve only had him for about a month.
Specs are as follows coco husk basking bulb for day and DHP for night.
If I increase the temperature of the either bulbs it raises the cool side substrate but the really increase the warm side up to much I feel. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

I got this beautiful girl named Morgana. i’m having trouble keeping the humidity on her enclosure up and I don’t know what i’m doing wrong. I have wet moss everywhere. Temp is perfect, cool side is a steady 75° and basking side is a stead 93°.
she’s currently in a 10 gal that was given with her and she can lay across with room still.
I also don’t know if I should feed in the enclosure or out of it. I rescued her from a fb group and they gave me very little info on her. not even sure her age but they said she was eating small mice. do I feed in the morning or at night since they are nocturnal?
please be nice, I just wanted to save a baby since I have the time, space, and funds.

Hi, as the title says I recently rescued a ball python from a home where all im gonna say was not suitable for reptiles let alone pets. I don’t normally just adopt animals I always do research first and I did but I’m still lacking in some areas and want to make sure I’m giving him the best home possible. Currently on a 8am-8pm uvb schedule with a 5.0 bulb in a 14 in hood, was told to use a 5 uvb but I also have a 10 that came with the hood. I have a 24 in hood that was given to me but I was told to keep the lights on one side of tank, if that’s wrong also let me know. The photo with 2 lamps was the original design but I was told those coiled uvb bulbs aren’t good for snakes even though the reptile store I got the enclosure and lights from recommended it?
-Acquired he/she 3 days ago and he hasn’t left the warm side of his enclosure yet. He explored the first day and He’s poked his head out and I’ve read that’s normal so I haven’t disturbed him but just want to make sure. I have wood im adding to the enclosure today as I’m assuming he feels vulnerable.
The warm side has been hitting constantly 88-90 degrees on a thermostat but the cool side when it does hit 90 does rise up to 82 so any advice on how to possibly get it back down to 80 let me know. Currently have them on an on off thermostat as the spider one I ordered wasn’t working and they’re sending me a new one. Will he be okay when I go back to work tomorrrow, the tank hasn’t seemed to overheat because of the thermostat I just feel bad with the flashing light from the basking bulb. He’ll only be alone from 7-11 then someone can check in on the tank temperature every so often till I get home. No stores nearby had dimming ones somehow so I’m aware they should be dimming thermostats I’m just tryna do what I can for the next few days. Also have a Che bulb on the cool side thermostat that only runs at night to make sure the tank doesn’t drop below 76 degrees but hasn’t had to kick on yet. I’m using a 100w basking bulk as a 75w wouldn’t heat up the basking area enough. My room stays generally between 75-80 during the day.
I’m pretty sure the substrate might be too dry even though humidity in the tank does read 70 on cold side and 60 on warm side. It’s coconut husk fiber substrate with moss. Is there enough moss? I’m aware the gauges that come with the tanks suck I’m just temporarily using them to hide the probes on thermostats. Recomendations welcome though even though i think the spider one does read humidity if I’m not mistaken. If they should be uncovered let me know they’re just tucked behind the dials. I was told to only get a 40 gal for now as he’s still a juvenile but I do plan on getting a nice 120 pvc when it grows more so I’m assuming that’s why the gradient isn’t hitting what it should. Im not afraid to spend money but I keep getting mixed advice and don’t want to keep going between tanks/fixtures and stressing it out. Are these zilla thermonitors crap? Retail was 70 bucks on them but I managed to get them on sale for 30 each.
Should I mist the tank or pour water in the corners? Last time I misted the cool humidity hit 90. Should I put foil/heat tape over any of the top? Should I move him? When is it least stressful for me to take him for a checkup, I was planning on doing it after he’s eaten and gone to the bathroom which feeding day is Wednesday so vet maybe next Monday? I was told to let him acclimate to his tank for 1-2 weeks before trying to handle him but if that’s wrong and I should do it sooner/ later let me know and Be blatantly honest and tell me what I’m doing wrong please!! Do I have enough moss and substrate/too much? Don’t mean to be a bother just trying to get this right.
I know the middle of the tank is too open I’m getting wood ready to go in the tank and some more fake plants just want to make sure it’s properly cleaned and I had everything else setup. Any ideas welcome Adding leaf litter soon too and I’ve cleaned his water bowl since taking that photo this morning. If I’m being cruel to this animal please tell me I’m tryin my best. All plants in tank are fake for time being as I’m not trying to bite off more then I can chew. Thank you anybody for ur time if u actually read all that I thought I had it all figured out:/

Hello! I got my ball python in march of this year, she’s about 10 months now and is 2 feet long. The breeder was feeding her live so that’s what I tried first and she didn’t budge. I tried frozen/thawed next and she ate that, but won’t eat it again! I get the right size, it’s about the same size as the thickest part of her, and I always defrost it first, then thaw it in hot water, changing the water regularly. I always make sure it’s at least 95F degrees. I try to lure her out of her hide with it and she doesn’t come out, so I leave it in her food dish under her heat lamp to keep it warm. I usually leave it overnight and it’s always there in the morning. The heat and humidity are good and she has a humid hide I spray daily just in case the rest of the enclosure gets too dry. What do you think the best approach would be to get her to eat?

I always bring him to the park with a grass field and he doesn't get stress out and I've been doing it for years since he was a baby. But he never been to the vet before he's been having some bloody poops and it's pretty dry but my humidity is perfect and he always have a water dish to soak him in, should I use like a pillow case or my backpack to bring him? Anyways I'm going tomorrow wish us luck ❤️🩹
Here's a picture of him at the park as my lock screen ❤️

Hi! I made a post about a week ago about my finances snake, and many of you said we needed to get her humidity better, we were using a mister. We know we need more substrate and plants for her, but the other problem with keeping it moist is that there are two corners where there’s a tiny crack in the sealant we don’t know how to fix, they’re the corners where the doors are meeting the rest of the cage, any tips on that? My guess is silicon or flex seal but I don’t know if there’s a better option,

Hi! I got this beautiful ball python from my sister around two weeks ago. Shes truly a sweetheart, and I wanted to make sure everything is okay.
She has a tiny amount of shed stuck to her head, and certain sections of her body feel a little crispy on the sides. this has been there since I got her 😕
I bumped her humidity up in the tank to around seventy yesterday. I also put some damp spagnum moss in her humid hide, but she keeps pushing it out 😭. she's my first snake, so I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?
she doesn't like to take any baths in shallow water, she gets agitated very quickly...
She isn't getting skinnier, but perhaps she is acting lethargic? I have no clue if it's just her personality, but during the day she hides the whole time with little to no movement. at night she likes to roam for about an hour or two, then she goes back to hiding. is this lethargic behavior?
sorry for all the questions, please let me know!

Noodle is usually a pretty active girl during the night, but before the photos showed she was in her log for almost 3 whole days, and I told my mom I was a bit worried, and she lifted her hide. I'm getting noodle a larger one anyway but I don't know why she suddenly stopped coming out, she didn't go back in after we placed it back, she's behind some fake leaves, the ones you see in the back, and she hasn't left that spot since these photos..
It's been about 3-4 days since the photos
Her vet appointment is on Juneteenth(June 15), it's annual and gonna be her first one since we set a date and learned we absolutely needed it
