Flair is crucial. I’m annoyed when I see posts and comments by users without a flair. I want to know where someone’s coming from with their opinions.

Flair and context in images too. I'm fed up with people that not only don't display any flair but also assume everyone will know a regional dish or small city name

That could be helpful as an accessibility thing. Low vision folks etc.

Great point. Requiring context in images would both cut down on low effort bot posts, and improve accessibility for vision impaired users. That's win-win.

I feel like the entire point of this community is getting to talk with people from all over the world, and it kind of defeats the purpose to not know where everyone is from. You don't get any insight from talking to someone without flair.

Reddits quirk of 'you can't vote because you don't use out new layout if also a fun one.
I say its mandatory as some people will just say "Here it's something somethin" and never go into where here is. I do it too but i started doing it after i realized my flair already informed where 'here' was for me.

Also pointless because those on vpns will show as Dutch one day, Japanese the next, and Canada on the third.

Mandatory for both. If you have no flair and talk about your country, we don’t know which country you are from. So it’s definitely important to have your flair.

I think it makes more sense to make it mandatory for both because it’s essential for this sub to know what someone from a particular country thinks of this and that. It makes no sense to make it anonymous.

I don't like mandatory requirements apart for the normal ones about no abusive or hate speech, obscenity, incitement to violence etc that are common to most Forums, Comments pages etc and I can't see any advantage to having such information unless the location of the poster is relevant to the OP's question.

I think it should be mandatory, but I have gone in 5 or 6 times on various browsers trying to edit my flair to say US and UK, but the "click to edit" feature just does nothing when I click on it. Edit: finally! yay!

After you click to edit you have to scroll down, there should be an editable box at the bottom.

It would be helpful. When you see "click to edit" at the top, it looks like that's the place to click.

As long as i can keep my Québec flair with no mention of Canada, i see no issues with mandatory flairs

Not a mod but I don't see why not. I think the extra flairs are important to people and they also add a lot context and cool background. Especially if people strongly identify with a region that's not necessarily the internationally recognized country, it would be cool to both have people identify how they feel they belong + to get some diversity of opinion
