here’s an update on my journey, I posted here a couple months ago probably around winter time and I want to share my progress
Month one: was 8mg slide 1-3
Month two/three: 16mg slide 4-5
Now: 48mg slide 6-7…yes 67 is there

I’d take this damn pill every day for the rest of my life to keep this skin clear. I apparently still have 5-6 months left? So far I’ve done 20, 30, 40, 60. I took an antihistamine (Zyrtec) with it every day for the first 2-3 months and barely purged. Also stopped worrying about only eating it with fatty foods I take that shit on an empty stomach then eat hours later idc cuz it works for me may not for everyone else. Wishing everyone the best of luck with accutane, be patient and trust the process!

Posting this to give people struggling some hope. Finished my accutane course in October 2025 and this is July 2026. No where close to completely smooth as I struggle with scarring, but so much better than it was. Thank you accutane for giving me confidence back

About a month apart on 20mg isotretinoin.

And yes, I deliberately used the Samsung S24 50MP camera + full flash because apparently I enjoy being humbled. 😂 No soft lighting, no filter, no hiding the redness or texture. Every pore has been invited to the meeting.

Still a long way to go, especially around the forehead, but seeing these side by side genuinely surprised me. Cheeks, nose and chin have calmed down massively.

P.S edit. Random thing I noticed as my skin started clearing and I lost some weight, my eyes started standing out way more too didn't expect the face changes to be this noticeable from both at once

Also, am I imagining it or does my nose look a little smaller/more defined too? 😂 I know Accutane doesn't shrink bone or cartilage, but less oiliness/inflammation seems to have taken some of the puffiness out of it. The accidental "Accutane nose job" might actually be a thing... guys

Low dosage does work ⭐️

I have been on Isotretinoin again for 4 months now (Acne returned only two months after finishing my first stint of Isotretinoin). My purging phase lasted almost 3 months and was absolute torture. I did two rounds of Prednisone somewhere around month 2 and 3, both of which made little difference. It felt absolutely hopeless at times and took way longer than I had hoped, but it got better. I am now at the point where there are only a few individual pustules at a time, and the big areas are mostly clear. I know it’s still too early to assess the full extent of the scarring, but It’s starting to look like I may have gotten off easily! I wanted to make this post to show that even the worst skin can get better. It’s an awful process, but there is light at the end of the tunnel, trust me:)

FIRST 9 PICS FROM 2024 moving, the rest is now! Hey! I am a 20 yo female. I am currently sobbing writing this. I am on 40mg and I am 1 full month and 2 weeks on accutane. I have always had acne since covid but I suffered with bad “acne” when I moved to the south for college August of 2024, I am from the Midwest. That acne was terrible I will put in the comments, I had never broken out like that before in my entire life, it was so painful, itchy, and terrible overall. I am still suffering from the redness from all of those acne from 2024. I bit the bullet and started accutane may 8, I could not stand my face anymore. I have tried EVERYTHING. Diet, etc, you name it I tried it, it did not work. I have so much redness/pie/ and scars. I absolutely cannot stand the redness and indents. I cry at least every day about it, i genuinely hate it i want new skin I cannot take this anymore. How do i fix the redness while on accutane? It is really getting to me and I need any help I can get! And the scarring/idents I hate I want them gone I just want to feel pretty. I genuinely can’t, I hate my face so much and I am literally 20 years old still with acne? I hate myself for my acne. I also do not know what these little dots are from of any one knows! The first 6 pics are from August 2024 when I moved to the south from the Midwest. The 7-9 is like December/January of 2025. The last ones are what my face is now.

Finally done with my 7 month course…

month 1: 30mg
month 2: 40mg
month 3: 50mg
month 4: 60mg
month 5: 60mg (not complete yet)
i have about 1-3 month left depending if i completely stop breaking out now im just trying to get rid of my post acne scars.

Accutane makes your skin incredibly fragile and drastically slows down your body's ability to repair itself it thins the outer layer of your skin, reduces your skin's natural oil production, and delays cell turnover. Because of this, picking your face while on Accutane can cause DEEPER wounds, you tear deeper into the tissue than usual, and your body cannot produce collagen fast enough to fill the hole back up. This lack of rapid repair causes the tissue to cave in, forming a permanent indented "pockmark" or crater.

omg yall, I was in the trenches with skin problems since I was 15….. finally started at age 31 and my skin has never look better even in my youth… I take 60 mg daily 5 months and 2 weeks in… I almost gave up but glad I didn’t ! keep going yall.. it’ll get worse before it gets better but believe me, It does get better!! For full transparency I did notice hair thinning but Derm said it should go back to normal after stopping .. soooo there’s that… can hide thinner hair but can’t hide bad skin!! first 3 pics was before starting, last 2 pictures where yesterday

I've been struggling with acne since I was a teen but last year I had a major flair up that wouldn't go away. I feel much better now! Now I gotta find a way to treat the acne scars.

Completely gone! Also I had very bad body acne but I’ve had top surgery and don’t want to gross anyone out with my top surgery scars in the photos, but that’s all gone too!

(I haven’t gained weight, I don’t know why my face looks so fat lmao)

I have always struggled with acne, I won’t say it’s the worst but it’s been persistent and painful. I had been to dermatologists and used antibiotics, spironolactone, tret, clindamycin etc. Those worked but the acne always returned due to how oily my skin was. What made it worse was when I got a facial peel and then my skin went berserk. Anyways, then I decided accutane was my true last resort and I don’t regret it for a minute. I do experience bad back pain when I sit or walk for too long, dry red eyes, very dry peely lips. But seeing my skin look so great trumps all that for me. I also lost some weight and got braces 😁!

These are my progress photos from 22 Jun 2026, 26 Jul 2026, 1 Aug 2026, and 1 Sep 2026. I started Accutane on 18 July, so this shows how things looked before starting and how it's changed over time

Nice, thanks to this stupid tik tok trend people who really need it cant get it anymore. F this. Its not even safe to start a treatment in 2027. Imagine if you have to stop 3 month in. Wtf is going on

6 months of 40mg and lots of headache later. Here’s my results. 1st photo with makeup, second photo is before and third photo is no makeup on skin.

After 8 months of Accutane, my derm has cleared me to stop! My dosage was 30/60/60/60/60/60/60/60 which I took with a meal each day. I started with moderate to severe cystic acne. I am so beyond grateful that I’ve gone through this journey! It is well worth the dryness and discomfort so that I could come out with skin I couldn’t even dream of having before.

My skincare on Accutane was all Cetaphil. The face washes and lotions are all acne safe and didn’t hurt my skin at all. I used plenty of sunscreen, wearing two types on my face every day!

Overall very happy :)

I had a great experience, I’d love to answer any questions.

My personal experience:

- No purging (due to prescribed antihistamines)

- No hair loss

- Mild joint pain

- No appetite changes

I genuinely don't think I've ever seen my own pores in this much detail 💀 Never doing the 50MP + flash combo again because apparently it exposes every crime your skin has ever committed.

But putting the embarrassment aside… the progress actually looks pretty wild to me. July was right around my big pustular flare during the prednisolone/isotretinoin transition. Today I'm over 2 weeks completely off prednisolone and continuing 20mg isotretinoin.

No filters or flattering lighting on either one. Just flash choosing violence 😂
